Annual Litter Cleanup

JCC Ruritans Countywide Spring Cleanup 2017

Join the Annual County-wide Litter Cleanup

April is "Litter Prevention Month." Local volunteers have removed over seven million pounds of trash from County roadsides and illegal dumpsites during the Annual County-wide Litter Cleanup over the last four decades. Each spring, on the third Saturday of April, volunteers give their time and energy to collect trash in areas where it would have otherwise polluted the environment.

Cleanup locations will be selected by the Clean County Commission each April. On the day of the Annual County-wide Litter Cleanup, a Commissioner or Lead Volunteer will bring supplies to the designated cleanup locations. All collected litter will be disposed of by the Clean County Commission at 3 p.m. No household trash may be brought to the cleanup locations.

For more information call the James City Clean County Commission at 757-565-0032 or email the Environmental Sustainability Coordinator.

For more information about organizing litter cleanups throughout the year, please see the Litter League or Adopt-A-Spot programs.
